To the Los Angeles Unified School Community,
This past week marks the start of a new chapter for all who are part of our school community. Students are learning in different ways, teachers are teaching in different ways and families are struggling to support their children in their studies while balancing other responsibilities.
I wish I could tell you it will all be back to normal sometime soon but it does not look like that will be the case.
Schools will remain closed through August 18 and we will provide additional updates well before May 1st on what will come next.
In the interim, we want to continue to help all students learn and will be making a significant effort to help this happen.

La semana pasada marcó el comienzo de un nuevo capítulo para todos los que forman parte de nuestra comunidad escolar. Los estudiantes están aprendiendo de diferentes maneras, los maestros están enseñando de diferentes maneras y las familias están batallando para apoyar a sus hijos en sus estudios mientras que equilibran otras responsabilidades.
Me gustaría poder decirles que todo pronto volverá a la normalidad pero no parece que ese será el caso.

The faculty at 4th Street Early Education Center are committed to providing preschool children with a developmentally appropriate and challenging educational program, which focuses on the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of children. All children have daily opportunities to engage in a high quality early childhood education program that is inclusive of a research-based curriculum and social-emotional curriculum.
We take pride in our Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, which enhances our student’s curiosity of nature by providing nature-based learning spaces. Program staff are educated in the field of early childhood education. Our ultimate goals at 4th Street Early Education Center are to close the achievement gap for our students, achieve academic success, and to inspire them to become life-long learners. 4th Street Early Education Center proudly serves families and students 246 days per year.
When staff, parents, community members and children communicate with each other and respect each others feelings, it builds the foundation for continued positive experiences in the learning process.
We strongly believe:
- Children will succeed if parents are involved in their child's education.
- Curiosity is good because it enhances knowledge and leads to discovery.
- A family/community works best when ideas and knowledge are shared.
- A rich environment with positive interactions and praise amongst parents, staff and children to be life long learners.
- When parents are regularly informed about their children's educational growth it establishes trust in staff and the school program.
- When a bond is created between parents and staff, it promotes a relationship, it builds confidence on the program which allows parents and teachers to openly communicate.
